are you ready for some football?
oh yeah, tomorr is the day ive been waitin for since january. maybe its the madden, maybe its the fantasy, maybe its the all-baseball sportscenters. for wutever reason, im SO excited that the nfl season is upon us..
i luv spendin sundays sittin in front of the tube ALL day, rootin for my fantasy players and the redskins when theyre winnin. durin the wk, i luv tryin to figure out who to start, who to pick up off the waivers, and stressin over how im gonna win the upcomin matchup--did i say i LUV fantasy football yet? and i luv the monday nite games cuz usually the matchups are good and al michaels (no, im not gay). itll be interestin to see how he gets along w/ madden..
so in honor of openin day tomorr, we witness the return of the TOP FIVE..
Top Five Things to Watch in the NFL This Season according to cp1
5) Madden and Monday Nites - so the big non-game nfl 'transaction' that took place this yr was madden joinin al michaels in the booth for MNF. now, al michaels is an awesome play-by-play commentator both because of his diction and eloquence AND because of his knowledge of the game and its history. john madden is the staple in nfl commentatin and the world--well, america--will be tunin in to see how the chemistry (or lack thereof) is between the two..
4) Steve Spurrier (& the Other Coaching Changes) - spurrier is a marked man both cuz of his (over)success in college and his mouth. but hes an offensive mastermind so itll be fun watchin him call the plays in actual regular season games. itll also be interestin to see how dungy gets the colts to play some D and how gruden does in tampa bay..
3) The Realignment - okay, admittedly i dont fully understand how intra-conference game schedules work but i do realize their importance in a teams overall winnin record. so with the addition of the houston texans (who, as a given, are GONNA lose) it will be interestin (didnt i use this word already) and different to see how teams do in their new divisions..
2) Will the Rams Win It This Time? (Parity) - this time last yr, the rams were the favorites to win it in new orleans. in january they were the favorites. course, we all know wut happened (for those who dont, the cliff-note is that patriots beat em). so right now, they are without a doubt the favorites to win it this season because they are the best team. but will they be able to? some already consider them dynasty even havin only won once (and that was three yrs ago) because of their record (25-somethin) and offensive output (over 1500 pts) over the last three yrs. but cuz the nfl commish and owners are actually smart (unlike another of americas pastimes), there is actual parity in the game so as weve seen, there have been three differents teams winnin the super bowl in the past three years who in their respective previous seasons had losin records. gotta luv it..
1) Your Team - and for the best reason of all, of course you luv football cuz no matter how much they suck--albeit for one play, one game, or for the entire freakin season--youll watch em....cuz theyre YOUR team. go skins!!
that was fun but hard. next list has got to be a subject i know completely. anyways, are you ready??!!
