love & hate..
every yr, its a long sports (and hence, fantasy) drout for me from essentially the end of may (cuz basketball fantasy ends w/ the beginnin of the nba finals) to the beginnin of sept. i mean, i barely watch thru an entire hour of sportscenter in july and august cuz im so disinterested in cricket--ooh, i mean baseball. so basically, im over-hyped w/ the commencement of the nfl esp this weekend. wut a great day it was for a fan yester--great games (except for san diego/cincy) and even old men pete & andre matched it up..
but wut a frickin TERRIBLE day it was for me in fantasy--i mean, im in six head-to-head matchup leagues and my record for the week one is 1-5. ONE AND FIVE!! and the lone win is for the league i cared the least since i started michael vick!!
oh wait, im actually 2-5 cuz im playin sandbox.com. course, that doesnt count since the guy im playin this wk isnt payin attention..
my two biggest mistakes (albeit, it is only one game and the first of the season at that) was draftin kordell 'im-tryin-to-be-the-first-startin-QB-ever-to-produce-negative-points-for-my-fantasy-owners' stewart and darrel 'seven-yds' jackson. i guess i placed too high of an emphasis on RBs in the first four rounds. lesson for next yr: use the auto-draft..
of course, not everythin is my fault. who wouldve predicted corey dillon rushin for a massive TEN YARDS and shaun alexander bein essentially shut down by oakland (ok, oak is good). gosh, even faulk couldnt do didly squat this wk. man, im so pissed..
and on the other hand--or, i should say, on the bench--are the players who DO produce and produce big time. shane matthews leadin the wk (and hence, league) in passin and travis henry decidin to rush for a career high. sheesh, why did murphy hafta deem his law over the entire universe?
week two, hurry up and arrive..
ps - ill admit as much as it pains me to see kordell and the pitts D suckin it up right now, i luv the pats, their system, and bill bellicheck and am so happy theyre crushin the team who thought they could run em over--AGAIN. the AFC championship was no fluke--much less the super bowl..
