usa basketbust..

so not only did the US team lose again (and consecutive games) in this years world championships, but now they (or we) wont even win a medal since theyre now eliminated from the tournament. i actually was thinkin it the US might lose its next game cuz now the door was open AND they were playin yugoslavia..

in a way, i think its a good lesson for the US cuz--no disrespect to the actual players on the team--the team is comprised of, at best, second tier players. not the best (except for DA TRUTH (paul pierce)!!) cuz they didnt feel the need or responsibility to represent their country. and now their slight, in john andersons words (of sportscenter), has officially made the US a soccer-playin nation. so now come next time--the olympics or wutever--theyll play..

on the other hand, i can understand shaq and tim duncans reasons for NOT participatin: the nba season is gruelin and their primary job is to play & represent their nba organization--and if theres a trophy to be won, its the obrien..

however (yes, i realize its not gramatically-correct to begin a sentence w/ that word; however, its also incorrect to not capitalize), i really dont care whether the US wins or loses in this made-for-the-media tournament or the olympics. i mean, who cares if the US is now second-best (or now, fifth AT best)--we deserve it and the other countries deserve their place. and arguably, the real world championship takes place in the NBA esp in this day and age w/ the global reach basketball spans now thanks to david stern..

besides, fantasy basketball is more fun in the NBA..
