just not the same..

so im watchin the first half of the first duke-carolina game of the season. its pretty bad. was readin stuff about how this rivalry just aint wut it used to be, which is obviously linked to the decline of unc thanks to the departure of dean smith and his system (aka - the guthridge yrs). but man, i even hate watchin our team play--its like weve got five shootin guards on the court and i would consider only one of em to be a pure shooter (reddick)..

im actually sorta glad weve been losin of late cuz it really shows our inexperience and proves that a club cant just seemingly reload w/o goin thru the learnin process/struggle..

i just hope we beat maryland when they visit..

- so im debatin whether or not to pre-order the new zelda game mostly cuz thru amazon or electronic boutique you can receive an updated version of the n64 version (on gamecube) for free. the real dilemna is whether or not its worth it for to get zelda since the only games ive been playin in the last few yrs have been bball, football, and racin games. thoughts?

- i remember when i was workin as a consultant in switzerland and later, at cable & wireless, how sick i was of eatin out EVERY SINGLE TIME for lunch. i longed for the ability to have a home to go to w/ a refrigerator to stock w/ food i could pack in a bag lunch to bring to work. now, every day ive been eatin a packed (paiked?) lunch and as i thought about it, i thought how funny it was that im now once again like a school kid eatin a couple of home-made sandwiches and chips. i do miss those fruit roll-ups and caprisuns..

in switzerland, i mostly ate lunch at one of two places: migros (a local grocery store w/ a cafeteria inside) and mcdonalds (nothin satiated that grease cravin for an american abroad than a burger and fries). yum..

- i think one of the best things about my new job is the independence i have in my work. it used to be--and was likely due to the environment provided by consultin--that i programmed applications in teams where portions would divied up between members. now, that was all and well but maybe because i did for so long, im sorta relishin the freedom, space, and sole responsibility for the work i do. of course, thatll remain true until i actually have a huge ton of work dumped on me..

- dude, this game sucks. we suck..

and wuts jay williams doin on the bench. hes disgracin himself in chicago and w/ mj's locker..

- on that note, i think its fair to say thus far (mid-season) jwill is the biggest rookie bust. the lack of production is one thing, but the whinin is a whole nother entity. and to top it off w/ all the hype he was gettin as maybe the one who would finally jumpstart the bulls. yeah, i feel bad for him. but i really cant feel bad for him too long..

i read a lot of analysis on how he just doesnt fit in the triangle. the latest comes from starbury himself sayin thats just not his style--he needs the ball in his hands (as oppose to makin quick passes), he needs to game to be up-tempo, and he needs to be the focal pt of the offense. stephons comments, of course, are given some credibility because jwill and him are considered to be similar types of players (and it helps that marburys finally have a breakout yr)..

but i disagree w/ how jwill doesnt fit in the triple-post offense (the official name of the 'triangle'). cmon, the mark of a great--even GOOD--player is his ability to adapt. and if he cant mentally do it, then he may as well be one-dimensional. theres certainly more than 'one' successful way to play basketball. and if the greatest scorer in the last 20 yrs (aka, the greatest player) can accept and ultimately believe in this equal-opportunity offense, then shouldnt jwill?

- by the way, one thing that really annoys me when watchin bball on tv is how quickly the scoreboard is updated (the scorebox in the corner of the tv) when a basket is made. sometimes im lookin at the score a good ten seconds after the hoop waitin for it change cuz i dont always know wut the score is at every pt in the game. i cant even keep track of the score in a pickup. you gotta give the viewers a chance to see the score actually go up so theyre sure the basket was counted!! cmon!!

- heres a wut-kinda-person-are-you question: do you take the good stuff immediately or save the best for last? for example, whenever i eat i always set aside wut i relish the most cuz i want that bacon double-cheeseburger or new york strip to be the last thing i enjoy in the meal. but i know there are some people who would rather chow down on the steak first--even before the salad--cuz best always come first. so wut are you?

okay, law & order is on. much more enjoyable than this nasty ball game..

yeah dude, i agree w/ your issue w/ the scoreboard.

remember right before the draft, how some writers were saying draft jay williams over yao ming? how crazy would have have been?

i eat the best stuff along with the rest of the stuff at the same time. but, i do it in a way that the best stuff remains throughout the whole meal. in that way, it makes me feel that there was alot of it...

-Dude, how can you even question passing on a classic like Zelda? man, you've become such a sports addict! join the crew ;)

-Though j-will has been a bust so far, I think the best has yet to come -- he's only a rookie on a crappy team... I predict a break out 2nd half for my boy... But he's such a mama's boy ... Is it just me or did he cry after every Duke loss...

- Im definitely 'an enjoy the best for last' kinda guy... mmm... i miss those fat juicy 5 guys burgers from DC...

i hope jay will tears it up at the rookie challenge where he isn't limited by the stupid triangle. yeah adaptation is great and all, but most people tend to stick to what they're gifted at and use that to become stars. i think mj finally adapted to the triangle AFTER he had established himself not before. even kobe hasn't fully adopted the triangle himself in my opinion. and there's no denying that he's a great player. =)

as for food, i mix everything and eat evyerhitng together when it comes to regular food. but for fast foood, i tend to eat the fries first. i dunno why. oh well.
