saturday..

dont you hate how some days there are so many things you wanna do--things you actually have planned out--but cuz of the number of hours in a day, the chores of life, and just overall exhaustion you dont get to those things? yeah, that sucks..

like last nite, esther was on call. so to occupy my lonesome self, i had planned to things watch xxx, play some zelda (the pre-order n64 version), and take care of some email. needless to say, i did none of those..

instead, the nite belonged to basketball (michael for 43!!) and the two law & order spinoffs: svu and criminal intent. and soon afterwards (thanks to a kimchi bowl), i conked out. wut a day..

beefteryaki_medley.jpg- one thing i do sinfully get to enjoy while my poor wife is on-call is to eat a tv dinner. its not cuz esther has left me w/o a thing to eat--on the contrary, she cooked an entire menu for me!! but a man gets a cravin for the unhealthy sometimes, knowutimean? and lately the yes-its-edible thing-to-eat has been the tv dinner, thanks to my officemate. check this out..

this guy is pretty funny cuz instead of goin out to eat for lunch or packin one at home, he just goes to grocery store and stocks up on wutever healthy choice or stouffers meal is on sale. then he brings one in each day, nukes it in the microwave, and voila: the daily special!! isnt that awesome??

so thanks to him, ive now brought home some 'frozen entrees' and eat em when i have the cravin. like last nite--can you beat a steak tips w/ teriyaki dippin sauce?? of course not..

- i have wondered, has anyone ever seen a salisbury steak outside of the frozen foods section?

bttf_mom.jpg
- have you ever wondered wut your parents were like when they were younger? like your age? or even in high school/college?

i was sorta thinkin about it cuz of the parents-puttin-on-the-pressure thang and cuz that question is the premise that sets off the entire back to the future trilogy..

(sidebar: that dvd set is fantastic!! esp for a bttf freak like me. and i know im a bttf freak cuz i saw the 2nd one in the theater three times, the 3rd one FIVE times. do you qualify as a bttf freak? or any kinda freak, for that matter? i hope not..)

anyways, beyond the obvious i-wonder-wut-they-looked-and-acted-like questions, i actually thought whether or not i wouldve gotten along w/ em, much less be friends w/ my parents. would i have even liked them? would we have hung out and done things together?

i really dunno, but the cynical side of me (which is pretty much all of me) says probly not. i think my mom wouldve been too type-A for me and my dad--well, maybe him. cuz hes the perennial always-smilin-nice-guy-who-gets-along-w/-everyone. yeah, i dunno--but its interestin..

- im kinda shocked the zelda pre-order game came out in 98 for the n64--cuz it is really good. and yeah, the polygons are a little too obvious--but theyre still impressive. man, i havent touched a zelda game since the original but now its like im in fourth grade all over again..

- as if the 2+ ft of snow wasnt bad enough, now weve got floodin thanks to the all-weekend rainstorm. after about an hour, i figured out that moppin up water seepin into our basement was a battle i wasnt gonna win. the hell w/ keepin the house dry..

- another thing ive been ponderin over is wut life wouldve been liked had the internet existed on such a prevalent level while i was in high school as it does now. i mean think about it--wut would we have done w/ email back then? or IM?

remember the only way to get in touch w/ someone? yeah, pickin up the regular land-line phone and callin them. and to catch up w/ em and figure out wuts goin on in his/her life that day or week, youd hafta actually have a conversation w/ em. but now, a one-paragraph email is all the effort you need to exert. isnt that crazy?

in actuality, do you think you wouldve gotten to know your friends as well w/ email? do you think you wouldve gotten to know more people w/ the internet? and do you think we wouldve been better off w/ or w/o this whole online thang?

its interestin to think about, right?

at least you don't answer the phone w/ this greeting: "hello? hello? anybody home?"
