call me weird..

a few yrs ago, i was unlockin the door to a building--usin my friends key to open it. after stickin the key into the lock and turnin it left, then right i couldnt get it unlocked. my friend came over and said to turn it right, which i did..

"no, turn it RIGHT!", he yelled..

"I AM!!", i yelled back..

"no, youre not--youre turnin it left!!"

and this went on for a whole minute before i realized that his "right" meant my "left". wut da hell am i talkin about, right? how can there be any confusion in which way to turn a key?

well, heres wut it came down to--the way i saw turnin a key was (obviously) different from the way he viewed it. i view the bottom of my hand or fist as the focal pt and so follow the direction it turns. he--like most people in the world, im findin out--take the top of the hand or fist as the base and follow the direction it goes. understand? if not, try it--which way is "right" for you?

since that incident, this problem has been a mild source of inane frustration esp w/ esther..

"no, youre turnin it the wrong way!!"

"but thats the way you told me to turn it!!"

i guess wut im tryin to get at it is--isnt it weird how we process information so differently? that how we think of or view things in the world can be so distinct and dissimilar?

i thought it was weird, but am i weird?

- do you have a list of things to do before you die? ive never really thought about one until the other day. hmm, wut would i wanna do? maybe some of the cliche things like skydive or bungee jump. id like to run a marathon. drive along the italian and french riviera--and the pacific coastal hwy. visit alaska (a layover in anchorage on the way to korea doesnt count). etc, etc, etc..

but wut i really wanna do that is so completely out there? hmm..

- i finally saw 8 mile and the ring the other day. i liked 8 mile--almost made me wanna shut the doors, turn on the radio, and freestyle myself in the mirror. haha, yeah right..

i wasnt so impressed w/ the ring, however. not quite as scary nor as good as i was expectin--just a little recycled, pretty, and drawn out at the end. maybe ill rent the original japanese film its based on..

- i dunno if i have a favorite day of the wk. but growin up, i definitely had a most-hated day of the week: i loathed wednesdays. my dog died died on a wed, my grandmother (dads side) died on a wed, i had my violin lessons on a wed. i used to think all the bad things that happened to me could happen on a wed. gawd, i hated wednesdays..

now, its like wutever. at best, wed is mid-week--woo hoo, halfway to the weekend. at worst, its halfway to the weekend w/ the next wk just around the corner. woo hoo..

anyways..

the reason why your brain processes information differently from others is because you are a true genius. maybe a little weird, but in a good way.

dude, i was kind of carelessly reading your entry and for a minute, i really believed your dog and your grandma died this past week. man...

hope you're good, bro. let me know if you're gonna be in town again.
