oh yeah? scarf you!!
one of esthers chief complaints of me durin the winter time is that i refuse to wear a scarf. exposin my neck to the caustic cold is apparently detrimental to my health. which i dont really dispute. i just find em so damn annoyin. i feel like ive got a cloth noose stranglin my neck..
at least, im wearin turtle necks now (just one). but even that is all form, not function..
- i didnt watch the ahmad-rashad-interviews-his-famous-athlete-friends (though i saw one minute of it), but i think its weird seein michael jordan engagin in a group discussion w/ the likes of derek jeter, serena williams, roy jones jr, and warren sapp. granted, theyre all successful, championship-winnin athletes (though i dont think sapp quite fit here). but havin mj in the middle of all of em--as great as they are--seemed to demean who he is. or at least was..
i think its correct to say my michael jordan fanaticism phase has passed, so im not just sayin that cuz i think he is god (which he inarguably is, right? haha). no, he isnt god but he is just one of those players who shouldnt be gathered w/ others for a group interview. it doesnt f-e-e-l right. like, all eyes and ears should solely be focused on him..
now, im sure its insightful to hear wut he has to say in reply to wut those others said. but i dunno. it just seemed like michael jordan was comin back down to earth--at least from a celebrity point of view--w/ this stoopid show..
i despise ahmad rashad. cuz he comes across as the über brown-noser and cuz mj likes him so much. why cant michael jordan like MEEEEE??!!
- i would sometimes cry myself to sleep repeatin that question over and over all nite..
its hard to tell whether im kiddin or not, right?
- for some funny reason, ive been tryin to read up on some economics. i only took one such course in college and did h-o-r-r-i-b-l-y, in spite of the fact i found it so fascinatin. i think it was a combination of skippin 80% of the classes and just my innate stoopidity..
for those who dont know, my dad is an economist (thats ee-CON-o-mist, not EH-con-o-mist as i used to pronounce until last yr). hes got a PhD and works for the dept of labor in the produce price index. growin up, i knew his job title (eCONomist). and i knew wut he did (economics). but i didnt know wut that was. i thought all he did was crunch numbers (which is pretty true). i hated statistics and never wanted to touch wut my dad did--not even ask one single question. not until i sat in my first and only class in microeconomics did i see wut econ really was--analyzin numbers and makin calculations to see how patterns and behavior emerge out of all that. it was like a bridge linkin science and the humanities. it was brilliant..
course, then i got my grade and realized this wasnt for me (by the way, i dunno where some people get this notion that im smart--i have physical, transcript-al proof that i am anythin but). sorry dad..
so i dropped my economics pursuit and immersed myself in late nites at the comp lab and that remains my biggest academic regret (other than cell bio): not studyin more/enough econ in college. and i guess im tryin to make up for it now by revisitin that curiosity..
- it reminds me, that semester (second half of soph yr) i took five classes--none of which had ANY relation to each other: microeconomics, computer science, political science, intro to english, and some lame music course. thats right--that was the semester i HAD to decide on my major, which i did the second-to-last day before the deadline..
but lookin back, i have no clue why i chose to even try out economics. or even political science. weird..
- has anyone ever watched sportscenter w/ closed-captionin on? i havent but it must be hilarious to see some of those catch-phrases spelled out. "dare i say, en fuego?"
