you say cicada, i say damn-annoying..

for those of us so blessed to live in an area in which we cohabitate w/ the luvly cicadas, how do they make you feel?

i myself am pretty SICK of em. cuz of the stoopid tree beautifully wastin space in our front lawn, every mornin we carefully tiptoe down our walkway to avoid crunchin on a cicada. its literally a m-i-n-e-f-i-e-l-d..

growin up in nova, i remember em from the fourth grade. gawd, they were everywhere. once, i was playin outside by myself (haha, yeah--as oppose to w/ my brothers) flingin around a yo-yo out in the front yard (i had just read how yo-yos were originally used as weapons in the philippines--yes, these are now toys for children). so naturally, i ended up hurlin one into my parents bathroom window (nice). fortunately it only shatters the outer glass layer, so it wasnt a huge problem. but we didnt get it fixed for months and in that time, that broken window became the home to at least 30 or 40 molten cicada skins. it was quite a sight, esp for the guys who came to fix it (haha, suckers)..

but--i was talkin bout this yester w/ a couple ole friends--i dont remember the sound at all!! i have no recollection of ANY cicada noise much less one so damn pervasive..

man is it loud!! those cicadas are frickin merciless!! and apparently, its only the males who produce the sound--guess no matter wut the species, guys will always be horndogs..

no joke, everytime i go upstairs im like lookin around for an open window--it cant be THAT loud, can it?? i think it may be particularly bad where we live cuz i was down in nova yester and it was a low hum compared to the full-throttle high-pitched sonic onslaught we experience up here in balmore..

gawd, cicadas are so rude--how would they like it if i anchored myself to a tree and belted out an atonal shrill (id sing a tri-tone) all day w/ my whiny, howling cacophony of a voice??

cicadas, hurry up and go back to frickin sleep--funny, i have the same thought when seated in front of a cryin spawn-of-the-devil infant on an airplane..

  • so after havin seen all 325 episodes of law & order (almost), i finally got the inclination to read up on who miranda (as in "miranda rights") actually was..

  • i dont really care anymore cuz i think george lucas is an idiot, but heres a sarcastic (have i ever written this word down before?) article on how to improve the brown, clumpy water flushin down the toilet that is star wars..

  • and for the true believers like me, it is all about madden (thanks, popo)..
