vending machinations..

is there a more tense moment in life than those 3 or 4 seconds you spend waitin for your bag of chips/candy/cookies to drop, hopin against all that is cruel and unjust in this universe that your bag wont get stuck in the vending machines spiralin ring of doom?

argh, vending machines! cant live w/ em, cant punch thru the glass on em..

post-election stream..

damnit..

i stayed up past 2am last nite cuz i was waitin for all the poll results to get in (a lotta good that did). and now, i cant stop yawnin cuz im frickin tired and sick of sittin in front of a computer my entire life..

but though i dream of hittin the sack when i finally blow this joint and get home, wut is it about not bein at work that energizes and rejuvenates me? as sleepy as i say i am at the moment, w/o a doubt i will be able to stay up til whenever because i am home..

im such an idiot..

anyways, for the first time ive been listenin to npr all day (goodbye espn) and as a result, ive already made up my mind--next time around, ill be placin a vote. just another reason to look forward to ohio..

hmm, that sounds awfully sarcastic but im actually bein sincere. now whether my single vote would really count even there is questionable. but the political parties and media sure make us feel like it..

question: are you bein rational when you say youre bein irrational?

a tuesday for the ages..

wow, election day AND the kickoff to the nba season on the SAME DAY??!! tuesdays have never been better..

so who am i votin for? wouldnt you like to know..

i am actually NOT votin and there are various reasons for that..

one, i dont feel strongly towards any candidate (i do consider nader a candidate although hes become more of an annoyance this time around); only a-little-more-than-slightly opposed to/repelled by someone..

b, im not all that informed on the various issues and where each candidate stands on em. yeah, maybe if i really cared i would take the time/make the effort to become informed. which leads me to..

d, the biggest reason i aint votin is cuz im just too damn lazy to register. which effectively translates to bein too lazy to care..

well, maybe i do care (a bit) as to who wins (or who loses). it could be a sign that im growin up a little cuz ive actually been followin bits and pieces of the campaigns this time around--watchin various liberal media proganda, seein the conservatives retaliation..

but mostly, ive been tryin to read up on peoples opinions. not that i dont have one of my own, but i think its interestin to see how decided some people are on a candidate while others are equally undecided or confused as to who to punch their ballot for..

i guess i just like seein why some find one more attractive than the other. thats not always evident in opinionated articles, but it sure is fun to read the inherent bias in em..

so anyways, on to more important matters..

FIVE THINGS TO WATCH FOR THIS NBA SEASON

of course, anyone actually readin this bit would already know wut im about to list. but if youre lame enough to be readin this blog as it is, shame on you!!

1) the beast back east - i wonder how many publications has used "beast in the east" since the july trade that sent shaq to miami. in any case, if detroits dominatin series over the lakers didnt open things up for the league, this trade certainly did. breakin up the nbas evil empire and sendin the biggest player to the smaller conference makes this the brightest-lookin season in a long time..

2) therapist in charge - ok, i dont care if he did it or not. cuz while kobe is arguably the leagues best player--the true heir to michael--he is shorely turnin out to be quite a frickin diva. i think all of us livin outside of socal are lookin forward to seein 50-pt nites and a .500 purple-and-gold team..

3) the rocket combo - honestly, im not too optimistic on the whole tmac-yao thang mainly cuz of jeff van gundy. the slow-down, grind-it-out, half-court offense doesnt seem to fit mcgrady. i feel hes more of a free-flowin, transition-into-the-play kinda guy. but then, maybe thats cuz thats how he played the last couple yrs in orlando. in any case, i think half-court sets and playin tenacious d will be better for him and yao. it will be an intriguigin show to watch..

4) realignment - waitaminute, so now weve got an even number of teams and SIX divisions?! who makes the playoffs and in wut order? damn, man--that southeast division looks sorry. and do i feel sorry for new orleans havin to move west. sings the blue, boys..

5) parity - alright, so this aint the nfl where the bobcats can beat detroit on any given weekday. but w/ shaq movin to miami and the addition of a 30th team, size no longer dominates the west and depth is an even greater issue for teams. the season may last 82 games, but five games may be all the difference between the playoffs and gohomes..

so election tuesday and the return of the nba. i guess i will be glued to the tube all frickin nite..
