just say no..
so you walk into the elevator you just waited five mins. turn around, press your floor, doors are closin when you suddenly hear..
"CAN YOU HOLD THE ELEVATOR??!!"
uuuggghh!! i HATE it when that happens..
and not so much cuz i dont mind holdin the elevator for someone (cuz id want someone to hold the elevator for me when im runnin towards it). but really cuz theres no way to answer "NO!" to that question..
right?
like when someone asks you over dinner, "can i borrow a napkin?"--wut da hell? if i say "no, go get your own damn napkin!!" wont i come across as the boorish jerk that i am?
i mean, theres really no way to refuse when asked these favor-type questions. "can i use your pen?", "could i have a drink of water?", "can i get a ride to alaska?"..
again, i dont care about what they actually--i just cant stand how i cant say no..
maybe next time im in the elevator and someone screams the gawd-awful question, ill look away, start whistlin and just press CLOSE..
i hate those questions which you cant really say "no" to.

I agree with you about the way you view the issue. I remember, long time ago, Jack London said something like "Everything positive has a negative side; everything negative has a positive side." I also find it interesting to see different points of views and learn useful things in the discussion.
